Citrus County offers some of the highest rated golf courses in the country. In fact, four have been consistently ranked in the top 100 by Golf Digest magazine. They are Southern Woods Golf and Country Club located at Sugarmill Woods in Homosassa Florida, Black Diamond in Lecanto Florida, and World Woods in Brooksville Florida with two top 100 ranked golf courses.
In 1993, Southern Woods Golf and Country Club was nominated the Best New Private Course by Golf Digest Magazine. The Southern Woods Golf Course offers wide fairways, thick rough, and large challenging greens.
Black Diamond is arguably one of the most famous golf courses in Florida with its unique and top ranked Quarry Golf Course. The Quarry golf course at Black Diamond is carved into the remains of a limestone quarry and was designed by Tom Fazio. With three golf courses and 45 holes, Black Diamond will leave a memorable impression.
As mentioned, World Woods occupies two spots in the top 100 nationwide. The Rolling Oaks Golf Course was recently ranked 63rd and the Pine Barrens Golf Course was recently ranked 9th.
